Senior Software Engineer

Position Summary 

Welltok has openings for energetic expert software engineering professionals to join us in our Boston, MA office.  We aren’t looking for a Code Monkey who just follows orders and writes code, instead, we want Code Ninja who will participate in grooming requirements and then follow those requirements to craft solutions of his/her own design.  Ultimately, your code will be part of systems within Welltok’s product suite that help our clients improve their personal wellness, which is why we are searching for only the best and brightest software engineers to join our ranks.  If you think you fit the bill, then apply now!

Key Responsibilities

  • You are self-starter, enjoy challenging problems, and continuously improving yourself and others around you by constantly challenging the status-quo
  • You will be part of a Scrum team doing full-stack development to deliver high quality SaaS solutions
  • You will be grooming and planning user stories, writing test cases, developing functionality and automation, fixing defects, and updating documentation
  • You are able to deliver quality functionality with minimal guidance
  • You will lead group technical design sessions along with other Sr. and Lead Engineers
  • You will engage and work with peer groups (Operations, Product, Support) to ensure that product implementation and delivered quality are high.
  • You will advance your team’s knowledge of core technology used by Welltok.
  • You will be an advocate for improvement in quality processes including Code Reviews.
  • You will lead complex technical projects that interact between multiple system components. (Performance Tuning, Security Analysis, Integrations)
  • This role may require access to systems containing Regulated or Confidential data and is thereby subject to additional security and privacy controls.

Experience 

  • BS in Computer Science / related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of hands-on development as a professional.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following languages / runtimes: Java, Node.js, React, Ruby, Python or SQL
  • Expertise with one or more of the following data storage technologies: Postgres, Elasticsearch. 
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm
  • Experience with a Scrum and Agile based environment
  • Experience with quality development processes, including: Unit tests, Build Systems, Peer reviews.
  • Experience with deployment and virtualization of delivered software assets.
  • Experience with centralized logging and metrics collection systems.
  • Experience developing software with minimal guidance and understand when to escalate issues as appropriate.
